West Sussex racer Jolyon Palmer says he’s feeling refreshed and ‘raring to go’ after the summer break and aims to be challenging for podiums during this weekend’s (31 August – 2 September) GP2 rounds at Spa.
The 21-year-old from Southwater has enjoyed a four week break since the last rounds at the Hungaroring where he secured two impressive top six finishes to move up to 10th in the drivers’ standings. He’s now hoping to continue his strong form into rounds 19 and 20 at the legendary Belgian track, which signals the closing stages of the 2012 season with just two events left to play out.
“I’m looking forward to getting back in the car again at Spa after the August break,” said Jolyon. “It’s been nice to have a bit of time off but now I’m raring to go again in the last three rounds of the season. Spa is a great track which is really enjoyable to drive. The racing should be entertaining with good overtaking opportunities and the weather will surely play a part there as always.”
He added: “I’m confident of our pace and I’m hoping to be on the podium there. I have won there before in FPA and to repeat that in GP2 would be incredible.”
Rounds 19 and 20 of the 2012 GP2 Series get underway at Spa-Francorchamps from 31 August – 2 September.
