Alvaro Parente masters Spa-Francorchamps
Alvaro Parente, showed once again, why he is considered one of the most promised drivers of the GP2 field and achieved today the pole-position for tomorrow's race.
The Portuguese driver began his weekend very well, showing at the morning practice that he was a strong contender in the Spa-Francorchamps fantastic circuit, after ending in a good second place.
It was possible to see his speed in a very competitive qualifying, and with a lap of the gods in a very demanding circuit, he put himself in the top of the time sheets, imposing his huge talent to grab his first GP2 pole-position. "This is a very important result for me and for the team! Since the practice that we were very competitive and we maintained our pace for the qualifying. I was able to do a good lap in the end of the session and that put me in the pole-position", said the driver supported by Soccerade, Delta, TMN, Aurora Group, Geotur and Cision.
During his career, his qualities were always clearly shown in the daunting circuit designed in the Ardennes forest, the perfect scenario for the first GP2 pole-position of the Ocean Racing Technology driver: "I strongly enjoy Spa-Francorchamps, it's a circuit where the driver still makes the difference and to achieve my first GP2 pole-position here it's very special for me".
Though he has pulled off a great result today, Alvaro Parente is already focused in tomorrow's race. He will start from the head of the field, but the driver from Oporto doesn't expect an easy life and knows that, only giving his best, he may reach his goal -- to win. "We are where we wanted to be, but tomorrow's race will be very hard. The start will be very important, as the pit-stops, but if we can show a good pace since the starting lights, I think that we can win", underlined with confidence the twenty-four years old driver.
