Two Top Ten Finishes For Super Nova

Another good race for Super Nova today saw both drivers finish in the top ten in Monaco, with Luca collecting three points in P4 and yet another consistent race from Fairuz to finish in P10.

Luca used all of his skill at the start to avoid the stalled Trident car of Coletti directly in front of him but there was nothing he could do to stop the two cars behind from coming past him. This put him in P7 after the opening lap and then two safety car periods followed in quick succession. Again, Luca used his head to preserve his tyres and bided his time until it was right for attack. After Parente was awarded a drive through, Luca did very well to get past the two cars in front of him, including yesterday’s winner Valsecchi, to take 4th at the flag. After a good start Fairuz had a quiet race but again showed solid pace throughout, narrowly missing out on 9th position. The team go away from this weekend full of confidence for the next round in Valencia.

Fairuz Fauzy - P14

“I made a good start and picked up a couple of places I think, before we had two safety car periods - allowing everyone to preserve their tyres. After this the car felt good and I was lapping consistently and I could see on the pit board that my position was getting better. Unfortunately our tyre strategy didn’t quite come into play because of the time behind safety cars, otherwise it may have been possible to get into the points.

I am already looking forward to the next race in Valencia and we will be working hard before then to make sure we can qualify higher up and get into the points from the first race.”

Luca Filippi - P4

“First of all Parente jumped the start and I had to avoid coletti who stalled, causing me to lift the throttle and let valsecchi through. After that I had to stay close and wait for a mistake from the cars in front and eventually valsecchi made a mistake and i got him. Once behind Chilton I knew out the tunnel I could get him because my braking was so much better than everyone, so I tried it and made a good one. I’m very happy with the fourth and the weekend as a whole, as that was about as good as we could get from where we started yesterday.”

David Sears – Team Principal

“It is very pleasing to have two cars finish in the top ten here in Monaco, especially with the speed shown by Luca in particular and I think we may have had another podium had Luca’s start not been obstructed by a stalled car.

Fairuz moved forwards, as he usually does in the races to take a commendable 10th position. After a disappointing qualifying performance to avoid all incidents on track and move upwards in both races is pretty much all we could have asked for in Monaco.”
