Tech 1 Racing selected for the GP3 Series!
The Toulouse-based team Tech 1 Racing has been selected for the GP3 Series, a new single-seater formula, which will kick off in 2010. It is a stepping stone on the road to Formula1, and the GP3 Series will run the same weekends as the European F1 Grand Prix
The GP3 Series received over forty entries, and the organisers have finally selected ten teams, among them Tech 1 Racing. "It's a great honour for Tech 1 Racing to have been chosen " smiles Simon Abadie, the Tech 1 Racing Team Manager. " It proves that we've managed to make a name for ourselves in the world of single-seaters in just a few short years. It's very important for us to be in at the start of GP3 in its first season. The level's going to be extremely high and it's a fantastic challenge for the whole team. It's the next logical step for us to continue Tech 1 Racing's growth. "
Like all the other teams, Tech 1 Racing will enter three Dallara single-seaters powered by Renault engines. " Our aim is to take on an experienced driver and two newcomers. GP3 goes hand in hand with the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, and we'll be racing in these two championships next year. So Tech 1 Racing will also have a single-seater nursery. GP3 is the perfect training ground for young drivers and the Formula Renault 3.5 Series is a good alternative. This will enable us to offer young coming men a path that leads straight to Formula 1. "
The team from Toulouse will have a very busy 2010 season. The GP3 Series will be held at all the European F1 Grand Prix next season, Monaco and Istanbul excepted. The Formula Renault 3.5 Series will still be run under the World Series by Renault banner and will be part of the Monaco Grand Prix meeting.
The first GP3 single-seater should arrive in the Tech 1 Racing workshops in Toulouse at the start of January 2010. The other two will follow in February, and the first official test session will be in March. "It's very interesting to get to grips with a new single-seater. We're well used to that as proved by our second teams' title in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series last year in the first season with the new version of the 3.5" analyses Simon Abadie. " We've also got the advantage of having already worked with Dallara chassis and Renault engines As soon as the car arrives we're going to give it an in-depth examination to really understand it. Between now and then we'll organise ourselves to have everything in place to supply a good car to our drivers. We have two major programmes in 2010 so it'll be a very important season for us. "
But before the team tackles GP3, it still has another Formula Renault 3.5 Series event this season. After their double at the Nurburgring, Charles Pic and Brendon Hartley will be out to finish the year with a flourish!
