Alesi ruled out of Red Bull Ring round after practice shunt
Giuliano Alesi will not take part in the remainder of the GP3 weekend at Red Bull Ring, his team Trident has announced.
The son of former grand prix racer Jean Alesi crashed out during the lone practice on Friday afternoon.
The Frenchman went into the barriers at Turn 1 at high speed and, on medical grounds, Alesi will not be competing in qualifying and the two races this weekend.
Despite the crash, Alesi finished 19th in the practice session.
Alesi, a Ferrari Driver Academy member, had been 22nd and 16th in the two respective races of his debut GP3 round at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
