BROTHERS, FAZRUL AND FAZLI CONQUER THE FINAL ROUND

The Race 1 in the Underbone 115cc category of the PETRONAS FIM Asian Grand Prix was full with thrills and spills having different riders leading in each lap. However, the exciting race was red flag in Lap 7 and Malaysian, Ahmad Fazrul Sham was named as the winner based on the Lap 6 results.

The Shell Advance Maju Motor rider completed the race in a total time of 13:29.725s, 0.312 seconds ahead of compatriot Mohd Affendi Rosli of Suzuki Harian Metro SCK Racing who stopped the clock at 13:30.037s. Meanwhile, Indonesian, Sigit PD (Umild Ubikers Yamaha TDR Indoparts FDR Yonk Jaya) came in third in a total time of 13:31.360s.

Fazrul who won both Race 1 and Race 2 in the previous round is grateful for his third win at Zhuhai Intermational Circuit. "It was a tough race for me as all my rivals? bikes are getting more and more competitive. Affendi, Elly Idzlianizar Ilias and I were taking turns to lead the race and it is not easy to run away from the chasing pack. I want to thank my mechanics for doing a fantastic task on my machine setting that allows me to take another chequered flag here,?said the 23-year old rider.

As for Affendi, he is really disappointed that he did not win this race. "I believe I could give Fazrul a run for his money as at Lap 7, I managed to overtake him and I was in the lead. Unfortunately, the results were based on Lap 6. Probably, this season I have no winning luck. Every time I step on the podium, it's either second or third,?said Affendi who has finished second three times this season.

Meanwhile, in Race 2, Ahmad Fazli Sham put up a stunning performance and showed nothing amiss with his dazzling victory. The newly crowned 2008 Expert Champion overtook both Elly and Affendi at the very last turn of the last la to take his first chequered flag of the season.

The Shell Advance Maju Motor rider completed the 10-lap race in a total time of 22:25.849s as he crossed the finish line 0.058s ahead of Elly. The PETRONAS Sprinta Ah Hong's Elly has to be contented with second placing in the time of 22:25.907s while Affendi came in third with 22:25.931s.

The 26-year old Fazli is glad to make up for lost ground in Race 1 when he failed to finish the race. "My machine went down in the earlier race and my mechanics have to redo everything again. I used the same setting as Fazrul but surprisingly my machine is more powerful than Fazrul. I am really glad to taste my first victory at the international scene this season,?said Fazli who hopes he gets to participate in the SuperSports 600cc category next season.

Indonesian Owie Nurhuda of Suzuki Top-1 SHC Indoparts FDR Chia Felix who sealed the Underbone 115cc overall title last round accumulated a total 177.5 points as he finished seventh in Race 1 and eighth in Race 2. Meanwhile, Wahyu Widodo (Suzuki IRC Umild AHRS) collected 14 points in both the races managed to secure the highly contested second overall position in the standings with 120 points. As for pole sitter, Mohd Iskandar Raduan of PETRONAS Sprinta Raceline he managed to maintain his third overall position with a total point of 112.5 points.
