Formula E set for another new season three manufacturer
Another major manufacturer is set to join Jaguar in the FIA Formula E Championship next season, according to a leading figure in the series’ organisers and promoters.
The manufacturer, which is expected to be confirmed before the end season two, is set to join a current team for a season three campaign.
“We are expecting to announce another manufacturer in the coming months, yes. This will be as a partner to an existing team.” Formula E Director of Media and Strategic Partnerships, Ali Russell, told Motorsport.com on Tuesday.
Russell, who was instrumental in realising Jaguar’s confirmation of joining the pioneering championship, confirmed that Formula E are ahead of their targets to build a showcase for major manufacturers to showcase future electric vehicle technology before it becomes a familiar part of everyday motoring.
“We are moving to phase two now, which is partnering teams and manufacturers so that OEM’s can promote their advanced technologies," he said. "To have Jaguar on board for season three is very significant on many levels.
“Are we surprised at the pace of what has been achieved so far? To be honest yes, we are pleasantly surprised. We believed something like this could be achievable from season three onward, so we are delighted with the way things are going pace wise.
"There is much more work to be done but everything is going in the right direction.”
