Formula E would help Trulli seek new owner

The embattled team has experienced a difficult start to the 2015/16 season, having now missed both the two opening rounds.

In Beijing the problem was missing scrutineering, while in Putrajaya the two Trulli cars failed technical checks despite a three-hour extension being granted by the FIA.

Ties also appear to have been severed with one of its drivers, temporarily at least, with Salvador Duran parting ways with the squad due to a contract dispute on Thursday in Putrajaya even before it was clear the team would not compete.

Buy-out a possibility

Formula E boss Agag says the series needs to come to an agreement with the struggling Trulli outfit over what the next step will be.

And the most elegant solution could be finding a new team to take over the existing hardware and entry.

"I could foresee that, yes," said Agag when asked by Motorsport.com.

"I mean, we are working with Trulli. We will obviously have a common position, we will agree with them on something to do for the future.

"And obviously one option is that they are replaced by someone else. That's clearly one possibility.

"There is a lot of appetite for teams, so to find a replacement is not difficult. But we have to find the best possible replacement IF that's the way we going to go."

Should the Trulli squad be put on the market, potential suitors could include a Brabham/Drayson tie-up, or even a new car manufacturer such as Jaguar.
