There’s tension in the air: on Saturday and Sunday, Formula E holds its final two races of the season in London and crowns the first Champion in the short history of the electric racing series. In the thick of the title battle: Lucas di Grassi, who experienced plenty along with his team mate before the weekend.

Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi on sightseeing tour in London

Buckingham Palace, London Eye and quite obviously a ride in a typical London cab, as at every Formula E venue, Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi also used the opportunity in the days before the race for short excursions around the city. The Brazilian himself lived for a few years in the British capital and was therefore not only the perfect travel guide, but also knew one or two shortcuts through the notorious London city traffic.

First podium for Daniel Abt already on Thursday

Who is the fastest driver in the paddock, not with the car, but in a 100-meter sprint? Star sprinter Usain Bolt who, like Formula E is also supported by Visa, posed this question. Almost every racing driver responded to the challenge and held the race on the start-finish straight before the race weekend. Daniel Abt finished in a respectable third place behind Loïc Duval and Sam Bird. Prize: a medal and the first podium shot of the young race weekend in London.

Visit in the British DHL headquarters

A giraffe, two tigers and a Ferrari… these are the most exotic ‘packages’ to have been loaded at the English DHL headquarters in recent history. Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi visited personnel and the Executive Board, signed autographs for the employees and posed for numerous souvenir snap shots. Highlight: a tour through the hallowed halls during which the racers also tried their hands as technicians on the X-ray machine or in dispatch.

Formula E action on the Carrera track

Carrera, world market leader for track-guided model race tracks, also bring Formula E in-house: the entry-level series Carrera Go now boasts the ‘ePrix’ set with a 5.30-meter long track and two loops. One of the two cars is that of Lucas di Grassi from ABT Sportsline.

On the road with Volkswagen and VfL Wolfsburg

This partnership is driving on: the team also travels in and around London with shuttle buses supplied by Volkswagen - a cooperation that arose through the mutual partner VfL Wolfsburg. The club displays its logo on the cars driven by Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt.
