Check out the gear and motor arrangement used by the Mahindra Racing ABB FIA Formula E team in the 2018/19 championship in the latest episode of the Mahindra Blueprints series. In this new video, FE presenter Nicki Shields showcases the M5 Electro car, which Jerome d’Ambrosio took to victory in the 2019 Marrakech E-Prix, and explains precisely which parts manufacturers can develop within the electric championship’s regulations. Behind the standard Gen2 FE battery, Mahindra is allowed to produce its own powertrain arrangement – in particular the car’s inverter, motor, gearbox and suspension. It has settled on a single speed gear approach, which maximises efficiency for delivering power.
