David Beckmann has announced that he will join Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing for his sophomore year in European Formula 3.

A former karting star and four-time race winner in F4 in 2015, Beckmann moved up to FIA F3 for 2016.

However, having only turned 16 in April, he was forced to skip the first two rounds before joining Mucke.

He ended up only 15th in the standings as a result despite collecting two podiums at Zandvoort and Hockenheim respectively.

Beckmann is the first driver to join Van Amersfoort for 2017, the Dutch squad becoming one of the top teams in the category in recent years.

After taking third and fourth with F1 star Max Verstappen and reigning GP3 champion Charles Leclerc in 2014 and 2015 respectively, it took sixth overall with Callum Ilott this year.

Apart from VAR, three other teams have announced at least one of its drivers for the upcoming season.

Dominant team Prema has signed Ilott and Guan Yu Zhou, while Ralf Aron has switched to Hitech GP.

Meanwhile, British team Carlin has been joined by two newcomers in Ferdinand Habsburg and Jehan Daruvala.
