Bruno Spengler in action at the Norisring
Montreal, Canada, June 23, 2004 -- Bruno Spengler, a works driver of the Mercedes-Benz Junior Team and the proud ambassador of the Casino of Montreal, will compete this weekend in Rounds 9 and 10 of the Euro Formula 3 Series on the Norisring road circuit located in Nuremberg, Germany.
The 20-year old Canadian, who drives for Mucke Motorsport, took part in two days of official testing at the circuit of Nurburgring just after his visit at the Grand Prix of Canada in Montreal.
"Testing went very well and I was always amongst the fastest six or seven drivers," Spengler said. "The lap times were extremely competitive. We were about 20 drivers within the same second and I was just 3/10ths off the best time. However, some drivers short-circuited the chicane, shoving off a few tenths from their lap times. In the end, the time sheets do not reflect the true performance of everyone."
The DTM event held this weekend is always tremendously popular. Last year, 100,000 spectators watched the races! "The Norisring is not a technical track at all," Bruno Spengler explained. "It is made of two wide straightaways, one fast chicane and two hairpin corners. Slipstreaming plays a crucial role in speed. Positions will be decided by 1/1,000ths of a second in qualifying and the races will be hotly disputed with numerous contacts and crashes. I will need to drive aggressively while keeping a small safety margin just in case something goes wrong. It will be a tremendous show!"
9th and 10th rounds of the Euro Formula 3 Series
