Being seventh, Erik Janis had the best qualifying of the season at Le Mans

Joy was the great emotion of Erik Janis today. He finished in seventh in the F3 Euro Series qualifying at Le Mans. This is the best result of his premiere season in the respected championship. The Mucke Motorsport Team pilot will thus start in tomorrow's race from the fourth row. The penultimate round of the championship will take place on a short version of the legendary French track called Bugatti Circuit this weekend. Erik confirmed what he experienced in the last race at Barcelona - he knows much better how to do in the qualifying.

The Mercedes Benz Junior showed his speed in yesterday's testing. He did ninth, or (if you like) eighth time. Although he was twenty-first in today's free training, his time has come in late afternoon when ending up in seventh among nearly thirty hard competitors of the whole world.

Erik Janis: "I'm so pleased, of course. We've been long discussing with the team principal Peter Mucke and other people of the team how to get better in qualifying. And here we go. It was already better at Barcelona two weeks ago and I've confirmed all that at Le Mans today. It took me rather long time to find the key how to drive best on new tyres. Now I know. And that I'll keep for myself (smiling)."

Peter Mucke, Team Principal: "When I saw Erik after the qualifying, I shouted out: You're our qualifying champion. I just wanted to let him know I'm really pleased of our progress. I've always been saying, all year round, that Erik is a talented pilot. And all he needs is to improve qualifying. Erik did focus on this, and here are the results. So let's hope he will be successful in races too."
