Maini and Raghunathan's qualifying round-up

The FIA European F3 moved to Spielberg for the eighth round of the season with Antonio Giovinazzi leading the championship from Charles Leclerc.

The two Indians, Arjun Maini driving for Vam Amersfoort Racing and Mahaveer Raghunathan driving for Motopark sit 18th and 36th in the main championship while ninth and 18th in the rookie listing before the weekend.

It was Prema Powerteam 1-2-3 in qualifying one as Felix Rosenqvist secured his 10th pole of the season beating teammate Jake Dennis by seven thousandths of a second. Lance Stroll completed the trio.

In the field comprising 33 drivers, Maini finished 21st with a time of 1:25.746 which was 1.236s away from Rosenqvist. Raghunathan was 33rd with a time of 1:27.430 for the first race of the weekend on Saturday.

In qualifying two, it was again Rosenqvist on top with Giovinazzi behind him and Stroll, third again. But for race three, Giovinazzi took pole ahead of Rosenqvist and Sergio Sette Camara. There was a brief red flag period during the session.

Maini was 22nd with a time of 1:25.826 and was 1.431s off Rosenqvist in qualifying two while Raghunathan ended 32nd with a time of 1:27.360. For race three, taking the second best time of the session, Maini will line up 24th while Raghunathan will start the race from 32nd position.

Practice round-up

Earlier in the day, Maini had finished 21st in the first free practice session with a time of 1:26.880 which was 1.554s behind the leader Rosenqvist. Raghunathan, on the other hand, ended 34th in the first session.

In the second practice session, Maini finished 22nd and was 1.554s behind session topper Rosenqvist. While Raghunathan ended 31st.

Race one and race two will take place on Saturday.
