Callum Ilott was victorious in the third European Formula 3 race at Monza, making it the same trio of drivers winning in the Italian round as in the season opener at Silverstone.

Front row starters Joel Eriksson and Lando Norris, winners of the first two races, both lost out off the line and were overtaken by Prema duo Ilott and Guan Yu Zhou.

Norris went past Zhou at the first Lesmo corner on Lap 5, and remained around one second behind Ilott for the rest of the race.

Behind the top two, Zhou soon also dropped behind Motopark driver Eriksson and Prema's Maximilian Gunther.

The latter took third from Eriksson two laps later, the duo not changing positions for the rest of the race.

Carlin's Ferdinand Habsburg took his third consecutive top five finish in fifth, followed by Prema's Mick Schumacher and Van Amersfoort Racing's Pedro Piquet.

Lead Hitech driver Ralf Aron was running as high as fifth at one point but ended up being shuffled down the order, the Estonian settling for eighth.

Zhou also continued to lose positions and was eventually only 10th, behind Force India protege Jehan Daruvala (Carlin).

After winning once and taking fourth twice, Eriksson leaves Monza with the championship lead, but by just a single point over Norris.

Prema duo Ilott and Gunther sit third and fourth with a deficit of 28 and 32 points respectively.
