The last time Maini scored points in the main championship was back in the third round at Pau. The Indian has had a difficult season but after last weekend's Master of F3 performance, he seems to have gotten himself in a good rhythm again.

Having started 10th in race one of the Nurburgring weekend, the Van Amersfoort Racing driver quickly moved to seventh in the opening lap.

He lost a position then after and stayed behind Mucke Motorsport's Santino Ferruci for the rest of the race. Thus, finishing eighth and scoring four points in the main standing (12 in the rookie standing).

Fellow Indian, Motopark driver Mahaveer Raghunathan started 32nd and moved to 29th on the opening lap. He was running behind Double R Racing's Matt Solomon while defending hard from T-Sport's Julio Moreno.

But eventually lost the position to Moreno on lap 15 and finished 30th behind him in the race won by Prema's Felix Rosenqvist ahead of teammate Nick Cassidy and Carlin's Callum Ilot.

Rookie points in race two

For the afternoon race, Maini started 11th but lost a place in the opening lap to slot himself at 12th, where he ran for the rest of the race.

The Indian had a hefty battle with Motopark's Sergio Sette Camara and defended well from F3 race winner Markus Pommer and eventually finished 12th scoring eight points in rookie standings.

Raghunathan started 31st and moved to 27th in the opening lap but dropped back to 29th by lap four. Between lap five and 13, the Indian had a back and forth battle before settling at 26th where he finished in the end.

Rosenqvist took the second win of the weekend from Jagonya Ayam with Carlin's Antonio Giovinazzi and Prema's Lance Stroll.
