Silverstone F3: Norris dominates hectic race for maiden win

Norris took a lights-to-flag win and his lead was never in danger, even though his advantage was nullified twice due to crashes.

Due to rain shortly before the start, the race began with two laps behind the safety car.

When it went green, Norris had a convincing start, leading Callum Ilott with a safe gap.

A lap later however, Ilott spun out at Abbey, and the race was neutralised with Dennis, who charged through the field from eighth, taking second.

The green flag period did not even last for a single lap next time around due to Ralf Aron crashing at Luffield, undoing another impressive restart from Norris.

Once it resumed again, the race remained incident-free, with Norris again pulling away immediately.

The McLaren junior would lead by two seconds after just two laps and eventually won by around the same gap, breaking Charles Leclerc's lap record from 2015 in the process.

Dennis, who is only confirmed for the first three rounds of the season, completed a Carlin 1-2.

Prema's Maximilian Gunther was close behind Dennis at the end of the race, but settled for the final podium spot.

Motopark and Van Amersfoort Racing drivers Joel Eriksson and Joey Mawson completed the top five, the latter keeping the charging Mick Schumacher at bay during two restarts.

While attacking Mawson, Schumacher ended up falling behind Harrison Newey, and the German was also overtaken by his Prema teammate Guan Yu Zhou on the final lap.

Schumacher finished just ahead of Pedro Piquet and Jehan Daruvala, the duo completing the top 10.
