Volkswagen driver Vernay celebrates victory and third place at season finale

Volkswagen driver Jean Karl Vernay has won the last race of the Formula 3 Euro Series 2009 at Hockenheim. The Italian Mirko Bortolotti, who made his debut in the leading junior series, finished third and thus complemented the positive result of the drivers competing with Volkswagen engines. In Saturday's race Vernay had already finished on the podium, in third place. In the standings he moved up to position five as the best Volkswagen driver, Mika Maki occupies sixth place.

Sandritter wins - Steinhof is new champion

Maximilian Sandritter from Raubling (Germany) celebrated his fourth win of the season at the finale of the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup at Hockenheim in front of Kris Heidorn (Germany) and Elia Erhart (Germany). However, in the battle for the title Sandritter had to admit defeat with a narrow margin. Maciek Steinhof (Poland), who saw the chequered lag in fifth place and thus maintained the required overall lead, is the new champion. Kris Heidorn clinched the title in the rookie classification.

Volkswagen presents world's most eco-friendly one-make cup

Yet again Volkswagen proves that it is a trendsetter, organising a one-make cup featuring a Bio-CNG-powered vehicle starting in 2010. With a CO2 reduction of up to 80 per cent Volkswagen demonstrates that major innovative strides are still possible in motorsport. The cup version of the Bio-CNG Scirocco fitted with a two-litre turbo engine delivers up to 199 kW (270 hp). The Scirocco Cup will replace the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup as the official DTM partner series next year.

Rally Championship South Africa
BP Volkswagen Rally Team defends title

The BP Volkswagen Rally Team celebrated its fifth consecutive national rally title in South Africa. At the season finale of the South African Rally Championship Hergen Fekken and Pierre Arries drove a Volkswagen Polo across the twelve special stages in Gauteng in about 1h 48m. Enzo Kuun/Guy Hodgson and Jan Habig/Douglas Judd - two other driver pairings of the BP Volkswagen Rally Team - finished in second and third place, respectively.
