Zandvoort F3: Cassidy bounces back to claim maiden win

The Kiwi, who had been on pole for Race 1 but lost out to Lance Stroll out of Turn 1, made up for it by passing Callum Ilott for the lead at the start of Race 2.

Cassidy managed to secure the inside line into the first corner, with Ilott subsequently running wide and allowing another Prema driver Maximilian Gunther through as well.

From that point on, it was a simple case of managing the gap for Cassidy - and while Gunther stayed within a second behind his teammate for most of the duration, he would settle for the runner-up spot.

Ilott had to do with third, keeping up with the Prema duo early on but eventually dropping off, while his teammate Anthoine Hubert started and finished in P4.

Alessio Lorandi went from seventh to fifth at the start and kept position, despite pressure from Ralf Aron - who himself then had to keep David Beckmann at bay for sixth.

Hitech trio Ben Barnicoat, George Russell and Nikita Mazepin made up the top 10 on the road, although Mazepin had to give up his spot due to having been out of position on the grid - with Joel Eriksson picking up the sole point for P10 instead.

Having been excluded from a qualifying session in which he had originally set the pace, Lance Stroll couldn't make much progress from last on the grid and was eventually forced to retire, after picking up damage to his wheel rim.
