For a 10th year in succession, the Formula 1600 cars will be part of the prestigious Canadian F1 Grand Prix in Montreal in June. The F1600 cars will be part of the weekend with the F1 cars, the Porsche GT3 Cup USA/Canada Cup and the Ferrari Challenge.
The 2016 Formula Tour 1600 series will be made of six meetings of three races each, making it for an 18-race season. Only the 15 best results will count towards the final drivers’ standings.
The F1600 series will also visit the gruelling Mont Tremblant circuit, Trois-Rivieres’ street course and ICAR’s circuit located on the grounds of the Mirabel airport.
The Canadian Grand Prix event will also be Round 2 of the Ontario-based Toyo Tires F1600 Championship.
The series features wingless, single-seaters powered by both Ford and Honda motors and has two distinct classes, the "A" Class for the newest and most refined chassis, and the "B" Class, for cars manufactured in 1994 or earlier.
For years Formula 1600 has been the style of racing that has produced almost Canada’s entire most decorated road-racing stars. It provides the most cost-effective form of entry-level formula car competition for the aspiring young star and is an excellent destination series for racers looking for the closest wheel-to-wheel racing in the country.
