The Aussie went into the second round of the ADAC series looking to build on his points lead, and that’s exactly what he managed to do thanks to three podiums from three races, including a Race 3 victory.
But it was far from an easy weekend for the Van Amersfoort driver, Mawson involved in several thrilling dices such as a wheel-to-wheel battle with Mick Schumacher in Race 2, and having to come from P9 on the grid thanks to the reverse Top 10 for Race 3.
"Winning that final race was very special,” he said. “It was a tough battle and I had to make the most of every opportunity, especially given the interruptions by the Safety Car.
"I came into the weekend hoping to get some more podiums and I achieved that goal. As an added bonus I have extended my lead in the championship.
"All weekend we continually improved the speed of my car. I struggled for pace a little bit in the first race but by the third race the guys at Van Amersfoort Racing had it on rails.
"The racing this weekend was very intense, we had some great battles at the front of the field and I'm pleased to have come away with such great results."
Mawson currently holds a 35-point lead over Schumacher.
