Brno. May 23-25. Round 1, two races.
Masterful turn-out in the Czech Republic!
With 32 competitors from 14 different countries, the first round of the Masters FR 2000 promises to be an exciting event. And it is on the Brno circuit that this truly international line-up is unveiled as part of the LG Super Racing-Weekend. Over four race meetings, this European championship will be decided over a total of seven races.
For this new, international series, Renault Sport is once more extending its ideal of giving young drivers the opportunity to line up with the elite of the Formula Renault championships, as well as discover new circuits and share in an international atmosphere in the paddocks.
At the end of the season, Renault Sport will be organising the Masters world title at Donington Park, including drivers from every championship: Germany, Asia, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Great Britain, The Netherlands, Italy, Mexico and Switzerland.
France in particular will have a good turn out, with 7 drivers flying the constructor's home flag. Pagenaud, Armindo and Scheier (team ASM) will all make the trip, accompanied by two of their rivals from the French championship, Duval (Graff Racing) and Laisis, not forgetting Franck Perera, currently competing in the Italian championship. Quite a line up, but so has The Netherlands, which will also be well represented at Brno.
At the end of the year, and after a journey that will have taken Brno's "world's" drivers to Assen then Oschersleben and Donignton, Renault Sport will be organising a test in a Formula Renault V6 for the top three drivers from each race.
At the end of this test, the driver who takes the best of the 12 times will be given a free place in the Eurocup Formula Renault V6.
So Brno should be the setting for a terrific head-to-head between the up- and-coming talents, with plenty of overtaking and late braking manoeuvres on offer!
