¨Pechito¨ López finished the year in a fantastic way. In the nineth and last round of the European Formula Renault disputed in the circuit of Estoril, Portugal the argentinian arrived third and finished fourth in the championship where he was only present in five races.

After the competition, López showed his happiness because of the excellents results this season. ¨I think that it was a very good year where I learned a lot. I want to thank the Cram team, my family, the Lincoln Sport Group and everyone that supported me¨, and he completed with his illusions for 2003: ¨I have lot of expectative and I hope that the things results so good as this year¨

López, who will come back to Argentina in the first days of November, marked the best time in the pactice of thursday, in spite of that he completed a few laps. Friday showed him in second place, at 0s127 of Neel Jani and complicated in his best lap by Eric Salignon. In the qualify session of saturday morning, before the race, ¨Pechito¨ kept the second place at 0s191 of Jani.

In the start of the race López could keep his position without risk because Jani was fighting the championship with Eric Salignon. However, already in the first lap Lewis Hamilton passed him in a difficult maneuver. ¨If I didn`t let him enter sure that the race finished there. Then I tried to pass him again, I was faster than Hamilton, but it was impossible¨, said the champion of the Italian Formula Renault.

However finish fourth with 100 points in a championship where he only compete in five races is a clear sample of the talent of José María López. ¨This third place in my last race is very good¨ finished the driver of 19 years.
