ART aim to stay on top in Beijing

The Asia Racing Team (ART Motorsports) heads to Beijing for round two of the AFR Championship on top of the points standings and looking forward to racing again in Goldenport Circuit.

After just two races of the 2009 season it is already apparent that racing fans can look forward to another close-fought championship battle, with several surprises along the way. Angola's Luis Sa Silva, France's Benjamin Rouget and Hong Kong's Luca Ferigutti will be behind the wheel of the ART Motorsports' Formula Renault 2.0 cars on the 18th and 19th of July.

The 18 years-old from Angola has been competing in Europe, and arrives to Beijing willing to score his first victory of the season. Rouget will return to the driving seat of a ART car, following two superb performances in the races at the season opening event in Shanghai, and one day testing in Zhuhai. The Hong Kong karting ace Ferigutti had a disappointing season start but the Swiss born is looking forward to prove in single seaters why he got such a high reputation in Asian karting.

Located in Chaoyang District, the Goldenport Circuit offers drivers an exciting mix of terrain that includes short straights and an undulating infield section.

Team Manager Philippe Descombes is expecting big things from the team this weekend, "For us the challenge is to maintain the current work rate and intensity because the other teams are sure to be upping theirs. Everyone in the team is really motivated to keep pushing all the way to the chequered flag. It's very nice to go back to Beijing. We always have been very competitive there and I do expect a strong performance. The track is very challenging and bumpy, and you need a good setup since the beginning. Definitely we have a very interesting weekend ahead."

The timetable for the weekend's activities commences with the first Free Practicing sessions on Thursday and Friday with qualifying on Saturday getting under way at 15.30. Sunday's race action begins with the Race 1 at 11.45 followed by the Race 2 at 14.30.
