Formula Renault 2.0 welcomes a new team - backed by ten years' experience!

KS team is a new French squad racing in Formula Renault 2.0, and it has all the aces up its sleeve to become one of the front-runners in both the Eurocup and the West European Cup. Its founder is none other than Antoine Voyet who has made his name as race engineer with the Signature team. After bringing his F3 career to a successful conclusion with a double in the Macau Grand Prix, he decided to set up his own team, christened KS, and tackle the French and European circuits.

Since its creation in 1971, Formula Renault 2.0 has been an ideal category for training and promoting young talented drivers. 2010 will see the arrival of a new single-seater replacing the car in use since 2000. This innovation played a major role in Voyet's decision to go it alone. "Training young drivers is what I love best in this business, and Formula Renault is the best tool there is. The launch of this new car is a huge challenge as all the teams will be starting from scratch, so it's a great opportunity for us to show we're made of the right stuff! We had our first taste of the new F. Renault 2.0 during the recent tests at Motorland. Its performance is very close to that of an F3, and the seven-speed gearbox with steering-wheel mounted gear change makes it a pleasure to drive."

Among the KS team's strong points is Voyet's career as race engineer with Signature. He spent five years in the hyper-competitive environment of the Formula 3 Euroseries, which enabled him to accumulate an enormous amount of experience. Among the drivers he worked with is Guillaume Moreau, winner at Zandvoort ahead of Sebastian Vettel in his very first season when reversed grids did not exist, Dani Clos who is now racing in GP2 Series, Robert Wickens, winner at Le Mans in the Red Bull Junior colours and Mika Maki last year. The Finn gave Volkswagen its maiden Race One's win in the Euroseries - without the help of a reversed grid.

Voyet has also worked in Supertouring with Emmanuel Collard and at Le Mans on a sports prototype in the LM P2 category. Above all, the KS team boss was involved in the design and development of the Formula 4 Eurocup 1.6, which is the current Auto Sport Academy car. It is obvious that he knows the business inside out, and the young drivers who will race in the first round of the Eurocup and the WEC Formula Renault 2.0 in a few weeks' time will be in good hands.

"Our philosophy is based on assessment and training to help accelerate our drivers' progress. Our aim is to give them the right tools and techniques to help them reach a professional level. Our quality standards have nothing to envy those of F3 within a controlled budgetary environment. By racing in both the Eurocup and the WEC our team can offer a low budget, while doubling its experience."

KS's first 2010 Formula Renault 2.0 will arrive in the team's workshops in Alencon this week and the first tests will take place very soon afterwards.
