The last race of the year belongs to Enjalbert!

The last race of this version of the Megane Trophy went straight to Dimitri Enjalbert (Tech 1 Racing). This victory enabled the Tech 1 Racing team to win the Teams title for the third successive time in the Eurocup Megane Trophy. The page turns to a new chapter, the New Megane Trophy which was presented this weekend in front of 70,000 spectators.

For the last time this season, Dimitri Enjalbert (Tech 1 Racing) started from pole position in front of Maxime Martin (Thierry Boutsen Energy Racing) and the 2008 winner of the Eurocup Megane Trophy, Michael Rossi (TDS). The three drivers completed the first lap in this order. Matthieu Cheruy and Jonathan Hirschi completed the top 5 in this group.

In the early stages of the second lap, Maxime Martin overtook Dimitri Enjalbert at the end of the famous start-finish line of the Barcelona track. The Belgian driver took the lead. In turn, Rossi put the pressure on Enjalbert, who managed to hold him off. Behind the leading trio, Sebastien Dhouailly (Team Lompech) overtook Hirschi to take fifth place.

Martin, Enjalbert and Rossi remained close to each other until an obligatory pit stop separated them. Michael Rossi was the first to make a pit stop. One lap later Maxime Martin and Dimitri Enjalbert followed suit. The positions changed again, since Michael Rossi could see Dimitri Enjalbert and Maxime Martin get out behind him.

Rossi, Enjalbert and Martin were still grouped together following the pit stops. Enjalbert saw his chance on the eleventh lap. Martin tried in vain to do the same. Enjalbert took advantage of this to widen the gap.

On the start-finish straight, Maxime Martin was bumper to bumper with Michael Rossi and took advantage of the slipstream. The unstoppable Belgian driver moved up into second position. Further back down the field, Matthieu Lahaye (Tech 1 Racing) overtook Fabrice Walfish (Oregon Team) to gain sixth place.

The gap settled between the three leaders. Dimitri Enjalbert is the last driver to victory in this version of the Megane Trophy, after producing a superb race. Enjalbert's recent success, ahead of Maxime Martin and Michael Rossi has enabled the Tech 1 Racing team to win the Teams title for the third successive time in the Eurocup Megane Trophy.

According to Dimitri Enjalbert, "The aim of the day was to win the Teams title. My biggest way of thanking Tech 1 Racing was to win today, to give them this title, the team's third. We have finished the season on a high."

According to Maxime Martin, "Today's race was superb. We fought hard, as we have throughout the season. I lost the title yesterday so I'm obviously disappointed. I don't know what next year has in store yet. The New Megane Trophy is very impressive and makes me want to come back."

According to Simon Abadie, "It was a great day for the team. It has been a difficult year for us in the Megane Trophy. We have the most consistent team. I would like to thank my drivers and team for all of their hard work. Three successive titles, that's exceptional. I would like to wish a warm farewell to my Megane engineer, Simon. He has been with Tech 1 Racing from the start. He has now decided to move on. Winning this title was essential in being able to thank him properly."
