Tech 1 Racing's first triple!

The Tech 1 Racing team has continued to dominate the Eurocup Megane Trophy, taking up from where they left off in Zolder. Dimitri Enjalbert and Pedro Petiz took a win each at the Nurburgring, stretching their advantage in the points table. On Saturday, the Toulouse-based team claimed the first-ever one-two-three in its history, thanks to Enjalbert, Lahaye and Petiz!

For the first time this year, the World Series and Eurocup Megane Trophy raced together at the same meeting. With its four Meganes and two Formula Renault 3.5 cars lined up together in the pit lane, the Tech 1 Racing team was an impressive sight at the Nurburgring!

Dimitri Enjalbert started the weekend by setting fastest time in free practice, with a comfortable margin over the rest of the field. He was then on top of his game in qualifying: two pole positions fired a significant warning shot towards his rivals--

Enjalbert got off to a good start in race one, leading Lahaye into the first corner. In the end, nobody could touch him in what was a text book race. The young Parisian only lost the lead for one lap, when he came into the pits for his fuel stop. Matthieu Lahaye was a delighted 2nd after an excellent battle with Ralph Meichtry, putting to bed the disappointment of Zolder. The podium was completed by Pedro Petiz, who fought back well after a bad start. Petiz was 4th heading into the fuel stops, but took 3rd place from Meichtry in the pits! Sebastien Dhouailly was 7th in the team's final Megane, having been right up there in the thick of the action from the start.

Sunday's race was not quite as clear-cut. Dimitri Enjalbert found himself third after a bad start, behind Maxime Martin and Pedro Petiz. The final result would be decided by pit stops : Petiz made up the gap to Martin with a stop that was four seconds quicker. Tech 1 Racing's Portuguese driver put constant pressure on the Belgian, who ended up making a small mistake with just two laps to go. This was all the encouragement that Pedro needed to intensify his attack and sweep to his second win of the year.

Dimitri and Matthieu were 3rd and 4th respectively after a solid race, scoring precious championship points. Sebastien Dhouailly also added to his account by finishing 8th overall.

With two more wins, Tech 1 Racing once again stamped its authority on the series. The result delighted team boss Simon Abadie. "It was a perfect weekend for us" he said. "I will remember Saturday's race, with the podium locked out by Tech 1 Racing, for a very long time! The fight for the championship lead between Pedro and Dimitri is fascinating. Both drivers have proved that they can win races from the front without making any mistakes. I'm also very pleased to see Matthieu back at the sharp end of the field. This three-way fight is certainly going to be an interesting one--"
