2nd place Jani loses chance of the title, Rojas takes a brilliant 4th place.

Neel Jani pushed hard and tried everything he could to stay in the fight for the championship until contact with Van Lagen made him lose all chance to win the race while he was trying to pass him to take the lead. Jani managed to take 2nd place with a broken front wing but Mondini took advantage of the race facts to finish in 3rd place, which was sufficient to keep Neel out of the title fight. Memo Rojas did a quick and consistent performance; he took a brilliant 4th place from 11th on the grid. Jose-Maria Lopez was penalised after leaving the pits too late to go on the grid. He was pushed back out of the top 10 and even though he was 1 of the 2 fastest drivers on the track it was not possible to get back in the points.

Neel Jani : " I had to pass Van Lagen at that time because he was coming out of the pits and I had more speed than him. Unfortunately he always closed the door and finally on my 3rd attempt to pass him we had a contact and we spun. I managed to start again but Danielsson took the opportunity to take 1st place and the gap was too big to catch him."

Memo Rojas : "I am happy with this result, even if my qualifying results were not showing my potential, I was quick in action in the beginning of the sessions (in top 5 every time) since we arrived here and I knew I would be stronger in the race. After the pit stops I was 4th, I pushed so hard to catch Mondini that I did a few mistakes which made me lose time and gave the opportunity to SHARP to come back close to me. I decided then to drive safer and keep position until the finish line."

Jose-Maria Lopez : "It is a shame that we have been penalised. The car was OK, my lap times were good but with a drive through you have no chance to catch the leader in a 45 minutes race."
