Magny Cours Testing 22 & 23 February
Even if the weather conditions were not easy for this first pre- season test for the 3 DAMS cars, it was the opportunity for all team members to work together in the 2004 configuration. After a non stop rain during the first day, all the drivers waited 1.30 pm to go on the track on the second test day, waiting for ice and snow to disappear from the track.
Eric Boullier, Managing director of DAMS: "The performances are close between our 3 cars. This is a great satisfaction as we have started our 2004 testing plan. Neel Jani is as fast as we expected, Memo Rojas reached a major step in his learning of European racing. Also, Bruce Lorgere-Roux has a great talent, I hope we will reach an agreement soon to work this year together."
Neel Jani: "I am satisfied with this test. We went quick to the good set up which fits with my driving style due to my experience of the car and the good relation with my engineer. We still have some little details to fix but I am confident, we have a good margin to progress."
Memo Rojas: "This test is a great satisfaction for me. The improvement is quite big since the Paul Ricard Test. I had to adapt to the way cars and teams work, and today I found the speed to be competitive. Now it comes naturally, I am in the pace, very close from Jani and Melo who are the main contenders for the title. I am delighted for my sponsors who supported my project to race in Europe."
Bruce Lorgere-Roux : "I think I could have gone quicker today, but I am still learning the car. I really hope we will reach an agreement soon, because I feel very good in this professional and experienced team." <pre> Unofficial lap times (supplied by teams) Pos Driver Team Time 1 Melo Victory 1'34.00 2 Jani DAMS 1'34.10 3 Rojas DAMS 1'34.40 4 Lorgere DAMS 1'34.70 5 Sharp Jenzer 1'35.00 5 Proeto Eurointer. 1'35.00 7 Campanico Cram 1'35.30 8 Martinez Cram 1'35.73 9 Cicero Jenzer 1'36.70 10 Pasini Victory 1'36.90 11 Mondini Eurointer 1'34.70
