Successful first test day with Renault Mégane

Jan Heylen was very optimistic on the phone tonight after his first official test day in Spa-Francorchamps with the Renault Mégane. "I was very surprised by the car when I drove it today," explains Jan Heylen, " the car is really nice to drive and feels very competitive. Renault did a very good job in their development of the Mégane and this work proved very useful on track today. I was also very pleased to see that even if some minor problems showed up, Renault Compétition guaranteed a perfect assistance for all teams."

"At 14.45 this afternoon, we started on a dry track for a 30-minute dry session and than we regained at 17.00 for a 3-hour run. In the opening stages, it was slightly wet but from 18.00 on, the track was dry. We did not encounter major difficulties and we found immediately the right pace. There was no official timing but we were among the quickest drivers today with a time of 2.31.40min. A time just under 2.30 is realistic in Spa," summarizes Jan his test-day experience. "My team, Racing for Belgium confirmed everything I already knew about them. The team was well prepared and proved to be a high-level squad. I'm sure that we will play a major role throughout the championship. "

"We now head for Zolder this weekend and even if Zolder is a non- championship race, it still is very important. Not only for the audience and the sponsors, but the team will gain a lot of useful information for the first championship race in Valencia," concludes Jan.
