A second major storm -- Hurricane Ivan -- is currently located in the lower Caribbean and could be on a path to make landfall in Southern Florida as early as this weekend. Although we are unable to determine at this time if Ivan will impact next weekend's Miami 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, September 16 -- 19, we want to inform you of some communications procedures we have established in order to keep you better informed over the course of the next few days.

We have set up a telephone hotline that will provide regular updates on the status of the race and the storm in order to help you better plan your schedules. This number can be accessed beginning today at 1-866-451-7223. Power permitting, we will also continue to email, FAX and post on grandamerican.com updates as they are available.

Like Hurricane Frances, Hurricane Ivan is a powerful storm. Although not as big as Frances, Ivan is faster and already classified as a Category 5 Hurricane traveling on a Northwestern path.

At this stage, the Miami 250 remains scheduled to be run at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Sept. 16 -- 19.
