The first champions!

There was no real summer break for the drivers in the national Renault Sports Championships. From Great Britain to Italy the Formula Renault 2.0 and the Clio Cup drivers provided thrilling racing for spectators at the circuits.

As the end of the season approaches the first titles will soon be awarded - with the exception of the BARC Formula Renault 2.0 that Ollie Hancock has already won. The outcomes of the other championships are still up in the air, and the names of the winners will not be known until after the final races.

In Formula Renault 2.0 WEC Roberto Mehri has closed the gap to Daniel Ricciardo. The situation is much clearer in NEC which looks like going to Valterri Bottas. With just one race left the Finn needs only a few points to clinch the title. In Italy, the battle between Varhaug, Sebastiani, Quaife-Hobbs and Faccini is still raging with two meetings to go. But still in with a chance is Sergio Campana, winner of the two races at Misano who also set the fastest lap in collective tests at Mugello. In Great Britain, everything is up for grabs between Adam Christodoulou and Alexander Sims. The outcome will be decided at Brands Ha tch.

In the Clio Cups, the first titles has been awarded. Ben Winrow did not do things by halves, and had the championship sewn up as early as July after Oulton Park. In Switzerland, Daniel Hadorn won his second title on the trot before the final round at Monza despite Andreas Stucki's victory in the Gumigel hill climb. The end of the season will be more exciting in Italy. Simone de Luca, Nicola Baldan and Cristian Ricciarini are separated by only six points with three meetings to go. In France, Marc Guillot, Maxime Martin, Nicolas Milan and Aurelien Comte have just the final round left to decide the winner.
