Norris comfortably converted his pole into a Turn 1 lead, with Defourny claiming second at the end of Lap 1 after passing Jehan Daruvala.

Having taken the penultimate turn too deep, the Indian also let Ferdinand Habsburg past but avoided losing further places by holding off Harrison Scott.

Although Norris took advantage of the battles behind and led by more than two seconds in just one lap, Defourny quickly closed the gap back to less than a second.

The R-ace GP driver made a move with 10 minutes left at Remus but the Briton fought back and, having forced Defourny on a defensive line, retook the lead before the end of the lap.

The same scenario played out two laps later with Norris once again emerging victorious but Defourny finally secured the lead with a masterful outside move at Schlossgold.

However, a counter attack from Norris saw him back in the lead on the penultimate lap.

Despite fighting back, Defourny was temporarily demoted by Habsburg and, even though he retook second, he could not catch Norris.

Habsburg secured a podium on home soil in third with Scott passing Daruvala in the late stages for fourth.

Tech 1 duo Hugo de Sadeleer and Dorian Boccolacci took sixth and seventh respectively, the latter closely followed by Alexey Korneev.

Fortec's Bruno Baptista and rookie Gabriel Aubry converted the top 10.

UPDATE: Boccolacci, Aubry, Henrique Chaves and Vasily Romanov all received 10-second time penalties due to track limits. Boccolacci has dropped down to 10th as a result with Aubry dropping out of the top 10.
