Buttonwillow and Season Finale Beckon for Kenney

Sterling, Virginia (November 07, 2007) -- California's Buttonwillow Raceway Park hosts the season finale of the 2007 Formula TR Pro Series 2000 Championship this weekend, Saturday 10th November, with Virginia's Liam Kenney looking to cap his rookie season in the class with a repeat of his Round 9 victory at the track in June.

Rounds 19 and 20 offer 15-year-old Kenney the opportunity to add to an already impressive 2007 scorecard. Piloting the #95 Liam Kenney Motorsports entry this season, the teenage standout has recorded three victories from 11 podium finishes in just his second season in open-wheel racing.

Fittingly, it was Buttonwillow where Kenney first sampled an open-wheel race car and since then he's wracked up a multitude of test and race miles at the Californian venue. It is this circuit knowledge he hopes will allow him to end his 2007 racing season on a high as he targets a return to the top step of the podium.

Liam's June victory at the track was his fifth straight podium finish and his third win in five starts. He triumphed on that occasion from third on the grid having captured second at the start and emerging victorious from an engaging battle for the lead with Luis Martinez Jr. In addition to taking the race win he underlined his pace by setting the fastest lap of the race.

Six further podium visits have followed in the second-half of the Formula TR Pro Series 2000 Championship but Kenney's keen to wrap a remarkable season with a return to victory lane.

"It's hard to believe this is our final race weekend," stated Kenney. "It's been a fantastic learning experience for the whole Liam Kenney Motorsports team and I'm feeling really confident heading back to Buttonwillow. We had a great showing at the track last time taking the race win in the first event and fighting at the front again in the second.

He continued, "I really feel like I know this track like the back of my hand and I know we're happy as a team with the set-up's we have here so I think we'll be right in there looking for a repeat win. I'm delighted with our progress over the course of the season; we're further ahead than we thought we'd be but the competition's going to be tight again this weekend. We'll see how it goes but I'm confident we can take one more win to end the year!"

Liam Kenney is contesting the full 20-race Formula TR Pro Series 2000 Championship, racing a Formula Renault 2.0-litre, 200bhp open-wheel race car through 10 double-header weekends from March to November 2007.
