TOP FOUR SUCCESS FOR BRATT AT SCORCHING HOT CROFTn

Scorpio Motorsport sensation Will Bratt produced an excellent drive at Croft Circuit this afternoon to reaffirm his status as a genuine Formula Renault UK front-runner, fourth position in round 10 his reward for a terrific performance.

Under glorious North Yorkshire sunshine, the 18-year-old made a faultless start from sixth on the grid and having made some changes to the set-up following Saturday's round nine, the decision by Scorpio was clearly a good one as Will visibly had a quicker car underneath him and with the pace to push towards the podium positions.

The Adderbury teenager instantly passed fifth-placed Sam Bird, winner of round nine, and quickly began pushing former 'Graduate Cup' rival Richard Keen as he attempted to move into the top four on the opening lap.

Will passed Keen during the second tour of the 2.1-mile circuit and during the next few laps he genuinely looked able to run with the pace of third-placed Cheng Cong Fu. On lap eight though, the complexion of the race changed slightly when the Safety Car was deployed after two cars collided at the hairpin at the end of lap seven.

At the re-start on lap 11 Will maintained fourth position and although coming under some pressure from Keen during the first couple of racing laps, the Apotex Pharmaceuticals-backed star did manage to maintain enough of a gap to keep a firm grip on fourth place, his third top four result of the season.

"I made a great start to pass (Sam) Bird and then I almost got (Richard) Keen as well but when he ran wide into the gravel on lap two I made my move to get fourth place", said a delighted Will after the race.

"We had very good pace early on in the race, the team did a good job with my car, but after the Safety Car period our performance began to drop off a little bit so rather than try to challenge Cheng (Cong Fu) for third, I had to make sure I held on to fourth.

"Yesterday wasn't the result we had hoped for but today has made up for that and I think we can go to the next round at Donington Park feeling confident of two good results."

Today's race, which was broadcast live on Motors TV, will be re-run in full this Tuesday, 18th July, at 09.00. Motors TV is available to Sky Digital viewers on channel 413 and also via cable provider NTL on channel 173.

Before the next two rounds of the season at Donington Park in a fortnight's time, Will is to return to the track this Wednesday, 19th July, at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. Instead of being at the wheel of his Formula Renault though, Will is to take specially invited guests around the famous Northamptonshire venue in a rapid Subaru Impreza WR1.
