McIntosh back in action at Silverstone

Vancouver, Canada (September 15, 2005) -- Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix, plays host to Rounds 17 and 18 of the 2005 Formula Renault UK Championship this weekend, 17th-18th September, the season's penultimate double-header meeting.

Hot on the heels of last weekend's rollercoaster ride at Donington Park, this Sunday's races offer Canada's Sean McIntosh the opportunity to make up for the frustration of posting just his second DNF of the season last time out in Round 16.

The 20-year-old Vancouver talent sits third in the title chase with four races remaining. Having won the 'Graduate Cup' Championship for rookie racers last year, McIntosh is still firmly in the fight for overall honors heading to Silverstone but he knows he has to score big this weekend to make up for missed points at Donington Park.

Looking ahead to another crucial weekend Sean commented:

"It's going to be an interesting couple of days at Silverstone that's for sure. We have to go in and focus on our performance and bounce back from what was a pretty tough weekend at Donington Park. From my point of view it's important for me to stay relaxed and to not overdrive in qualifying or the races.

"As a team we have to get back to the form that took us to four straight wins at Snetterton and Knockhill. I'm sure we can get back to the front in qualifying at Silverstone although it's important we get on the pace immediately as there's no prior testing heading into Saturday's timed runs. I'm confident we can hit the ground running and from there we can look to score more points on Sunday and claw back some of the ground we lost at Donington."

Silverstone effectively serves as Sean's surrogate 'home' circuit while he competes in Europe. Since crossing the Atlantic to test himself against some of Europe's finest up-and-coming open-wheel talents at the start of the 2004 season, Sean's temporary base is located in the village of Towcester, Northampton, just a handful of miles from the famous Grand Prix track.

Sunday's 22-lap races will run on the 4.93km National Circuit at Silverstone with Round 17 scheduled to kick off at 9:35am GMT while Round 18 rounds off the day's on-track action at 5:15pm GMT.
