McIntosh celebrates 'Graduate Cup' success

Montreal, Quebec (Nov.28, 2004) -- Canada's Sean McIntosh capped an outstanding debut year in the Formula Renault UK Championship by jetting back across the Atlantic to attend the season-ending TOCA Tour award ceremony, held last night (Saturday 27th) at the Hilton Hotel, Coventry.

The 19-year-old from Coquitlam, British Columbia was invited to attend the prestigious celebrations and receive his trophy as inaugural 'Graduate Cup' Champion, introduced by Renault UK at the start of the 2004 season for Formula Renault UK newcomers.

Having collected his award on stage from TOCA Tour Series Director Alan Gow, a delighted McIntosh enthused:

"It's great to be honored like this, both for myself and for all the crew at Team Firstair. I really have to thank team owner Ian Barnwell and my engineer Andy Welch for all their support throughout the season. We had a great time together and the hard work paid off with our 'Graduate Cup' success and the win at Oulton Park earlier in the year.

"I'd also like to thank everyone at Renault UK for putting together the series as well as TOCA for creating such a strong package. It's been a tremendous learning year for me, my first competing abroad, and I hope that I can put all that I've learned to good use and come back in 2005 and fight for the title."

In addition to Sean's on-track successes, finishing sixth overall in the final driver standings, the main off-track highlight for the young Canadian charger was a mid-season visit to a Formula One test at Silverstone as a guest of Renault UK and the Renault F1 Team. The experience further cemented Sean's racing ambitions while offering a unique insight into the workings of a winning Formula One outfit.

Sean heads back to Canada tomorrow and hopes to confirm his plans for the 2005 season in the near future.
