ROCKINGHAM RACE REPORT

Rockingham, Corby, UK -- 22 April 2007: AKA Cobra had a rough ride at Rockingham this weekend with the top results refusing to go their way. Jeremy Metcalfe managed to take a fourth place finish in race one and Adam Christodoulou bagged a good haul of points with two top six finishes, but the team are in this Championship to win so attention will turn swiftly to Thruxton where the they will be on fighting form in two weeks' time.

Jeremy Metcalfe:

"I'm relatively happy with fourth place in race one. We qualified fourth and so to come home in the same position isn't so bad. I took it easy for the last five or six laps to make sure there were no problems. I could have tried to take third but it would have meant pushing very hard and that would have meant too much risk and it wasn't worth it. I'm very disappointed with the second race. I lost out big time on the first lap and things didn't improve from there. It's a long championship though and we've still got 16 races to go so there are a lot of points up for grabs. I'm sure we'll be back at Thruxton in a couple of weeks; I'm aiming for nothing less than two podiums."

Adam Christodoulou:

"I had a bit of a delayed reaction at the start of race one which knocked me down two places to eighth but I got straight on it and was back up to sixth by the first hairpin. Five laps in I overtook Alex Sims into the first hairpin and maintained fifth position to the end. I had a much better start in race two and was up to fourth on the first lap. I found myself struggling for pace in this race though and with five laps to go I was having a hard job fending off Dean Smith and Adriano Buzaid. They got through and I had to settle for sixth. I really wanted that fourth place in race two but I'm happy to collect points from both races. We were playing catch-up this weekend but the whole team did their best."

Nathan Caratti:

"I got a good start in race one and went from 13th to 10th. I got into some good spot swapping during the opening stages and when I broke free I pushed hard. Unfortunately half way through the race I clipped the wall which damaged my right rear corner so I had to pit and retire. Everyone was all over the place at the start of race two and I made up a few positions but then lost a few in order to avoid crashes. I gained a few spots at the end though and was happy to get a top 10 finish. Our race pace was good today so we need to concentrate on getting qualifying right."

Chris Holmes:

"The weekend was always going to be about damage limitation for us as we knew that our main competition had done more testing than us at Rockingham. Qualifying was difficult as we struggled to find the right balance but our race pace was much better. I got a good start in race one but whilst challenging Alex Sims for sixth I braked late and lost the rear, the end result being I lost my front wing and finished the race in 12th place. I got a good start again in race two, making steady progress from 13th up to eighth position. On the last lap I had Jordan Oakes and Richard Singleton behind me, fighting each other for position. When I turned in Oakes outbraked himself and ran into the side of me which resulted in a DNF for me and two penalty points for him. All in all our race pace was good but I made a mistake in race one and was unlucky in race two so I'm hoping for better at Thruxton where we will need to hit the ground running as we go straight into qualifying there."

Andrew Kirkaldy, Team Principal:

"We went into Rockingham knowing we had a lot of hard work to do on car set-up due to the limited pre-season testing we had at Rockingham. We've come away in 3rd and 4th position in the Championship and we are focusing on getting back to winning."

On a lighter note, team principal, Andrew Kirkaldy, won his first Porsche Carrera Cup race on Saturday! He also had pole position for race two but wasn't able to compete as his driveshaft broke on the warm up lap.
