UK: CR Scuderia Silverstone II preview

RETURN OF THE RENAULTS

The 2008 Formula Renault UK Championship returns to Silverstone this weekend for the second of its two visits to the Northamptonshire track. This time around the race is on the short National Circuit so it will be non-stop action for the Formula Renault racers.

CR Scuderia's Adam Christodoulou could statistically take the Championship crown at Silverstone but he would have to have an incredible run of results. Ryuji Yamamoto is hoping for a return to his early season form. Scott Jenkins, after a great run at Silverstone last time out, is out for a podium finish; and Jesse Krohn has his sights set on a top five finish.

CRS Team Director, Andrew Kirkaldy:

"Silverstone National circuit has been a good circuit for us over the past few years. We are in a very strong position with any of the four drivers to take race wins. It's great to be going into Silverstone with a chance of winning the Championship over the weekend. Adam just needs to go and do the best job he can and if it works out for us we could be celebrating on Sunday night. I think as a team we can very strong over the weekend and it would be good to see any of the drivers on the top step of the podium."

Adam Christodoulou (currently 1st in Championship standings):

"Last time I was racing at Silverstone it was around the Grand Prix track and what an awesome weekend that was! Now we are at the national track and, even though it's not as challenging as the GP track, I can't wait to get back into the car as the s ummer break seems to have gone on forever. This will be one of the biggest weekends of my career as it's possible for me and the team to tie up the British Championship - all I need is 13 more points than the second place man - but that's easier said than done. The most important thing for me is to concentrate on qualifying well and getting a podium finish in each of the two races. One other challenge that I've been aiming for this year is to beat a record set by Lewis Hamilton. During his Championship-winning year in Renault he won 10 of the races; so far I've won seven and with four races left it's still possible to match or even beat the Formula One star."

Scott Jenkins (currently 8th in Championship standings):

"I love Silverstone and had two great races there a few months ago where I overtook six or seven cars during the two races. I had engine trouble in qualifying last time so let's hope t hings run more smoothly this time for me. I'm looking to end the season on a high in preparation for next year, when I hope to be back in Formula Renault UK. I think it's time to get a podium so that's the target, plus score as many points as possible to move up the championship table a few places before the season ends."

Ryuji Yamamoto (currently 11th in Championship standings):

"I had good results in the test at Silverstone earlier this year and believe I can have much better races there than in the past few events. I have had a series of minor mechanical troubles recently but the team has been making a big effort to sort it out, especially during this break. My target is to go back to where I was in the early stages of this season - on the podium - but I will try to finish within the top five in the first race and this will hopefully give me the boost I need for a podium finish in race two."

Jesse Krohn (currently 21st in Championship standings):

"The Silverstone National Circuit is a pretty easy track; I have tested there in Formula Renault and Formula Ford. My target for this meeting is a top five finish so I have to qualify better."

Qualifying for rounds 17 and 18 of the 2008 Formula Renault UK Championship takes place on Saturday at 0930 and 1430 and the two races get underway on Sunday at 0930 and 1530.
