RAIN STOPS PLAY AT BRANDS HATCH

Round five of the 2010 Formula Renault UK Championship will take place at Snetterton in August after rain stopped play at Brands Hatch today. Luckily the rain stopped in time for round six to be run this afternoon and it was CRS Racing's Harry Tincknell who stole the show with a very mature drive from the back of the grid all the way up to sixth place.

Harry, who is one of the MSA Team UK drivers, had qualified in fourth place for the first race but on his first lap out in the second session his car had an electrical problem so he failed to register a time and would start the race from the back.

All the CRS drivers made cautious starts on slick tyres on the drying Grand Prix track. Harry picked his way through the traffic, steadily climbing up through the field. The only real drama came on the last lap of the race when he and Victor Correa were having a battle, which ended when Victor's front wing made contact with Harry's rear tyre. The team held their breaths but Harry and Victor made it to the flag in sixth place.

Victor dropped down to 10th due to his broken front wing but this was his best result of the season so far, showing that the Brazilian felt at home on the famous long circuit at Brands Hatch. Mick Lyons finished the race in 14th, gaining two places on his start position. Robert Foster-Jones finished in 16th place after a difficult afternoon.

"The good news is that we have suffered minimal damage in the championship," commented Team Director Andrew Kirkaldy. "We haven't had stable conditions all weekend so it has been hard for the drivers but we have another race to run now at Snetterton and hopefully as it's in August the sun will be shining again."
