TAKING IT TO THE FINISH

The 2010 Formula Renault UK season drew to a close at a gloriously sunny Brands Hatch today. Harry Tincknell, Rob Foster-Jones and Michael Lyons all put on a good show for the big crowd that turned out to watch the BTCC title-decider on the Brands Indy Circuit.

Harry Tincknell took fourth place and second fastest lap in race one but struggled off the line from fifth in race two and ultimately settled for eighth place at the flag.

"I don't know what happened at the start," he explained. "I did everything as I normally would but I stalled off the line. This dropped me back to around 15th so I had a lot of work to do after that. I managed to recover to eighth place and considering everyone says you can't overtake here I'm pretty happy with that. It was an entertaining race and it was good to get stuck in."

Rob Foster-Jones had an uneventful first race that saw him start 10th and finish 10th. In race two he started 13th and was hoping to move right up the order.

"I got a really good start and managed to get up to ninth," he said. "I was then running really close behind the guy in eighth but about halfway through he spun at the esses which made me go off and that was the end of it for me. It's disappointing as I could've taken eighth this afternoon but it was totally out of my control."

Mick Lyons qualified just outside the top ten, in 11th place for both of today's races.

"I was happy with my pace in race one and everything was going great until I spun at Graham Hill Bend on the last lap which put me down to 15th. I stalled at the start of race two, even though I was using more revs than at the start of race one, but I managed to get past a few cars and finish in 12th place in the end. My pace was good this weekend but I need everything else to come together too."

With the Formula Renault season over the test ban will soon lift and a busy season of winter testing will start, along with the Winter Series events, which take place in early November.
