STRONG WINTER SERIES LINE-UP FOR AKA COBRA
The AKA Cobra team has entered a strong trio of drivers for this year's Formula Renault UK Winter Series. 2007 team drivers, Adam Christodoulou and Nathan Caratti, are joined by Finnish sensation, Valtteri Bottas, for the two events that take place this weekend (3/4 November) at Donington Park and the following weekend (10/11 November) at Croft.
Adam Christodoulou emerged as one of the new stars of single-seater racing during the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship. In his first year of car racing the 18-year-old won the Graduate Cup after some astonishing performances throughout the season. As well as being fast he proved he had the consistency required to win championships; he finished every single race and was only outside the top ten on two occasions.
Nathan Caratti's 2007 season was his first in the UK after moving over from the Australian Formula Ford Championship. He showed great improvement during the mid-season races but endured quite a few non-finishes later in the year. He's due a change of luck and certainly has the pace to challenge for the top in the Winter Series.
Valtteri Bottas recently won the last two rounds of the Formula Renault Northern European Cup at Hockenheim and took third place overall in the Championship. The 18-year-old has joined AKA Cobra for the Renault UK Winter Series and aims to follow in the footsteps of fellow Finn, newly-crowned F1 World Champion, Kimi Raikkonen.
Andrew Kirkaldy, Team Principal:
"I think we have an exciting line-up for this year's Winter Series. We know that Adam is capable of winning and Nathan has proved recently that he has the pace to do well so this is a good opportunity for both of them to show what they learnt with us in 2007. Valtteri tested with us this time last year but circumstances dictated that he went to the Northern European Cup for 2007. We've kept in touch and I'm delighted we are running him in the Winter Series with a view to keeping him for next year. We had a productive test at Oschersleben last week where we were quick in the wet and the dry so I think we have a few good races ahead of us."
