Bad Luck for Richard Burns; Race Win Goes to Patrick Huisman

Giving his debut at the second round of the Porsche Pirelli SuperCup at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, the invited VIP driver, Richard Burns, ended his race in the first lap with a spectacular roll after being knocked out by a spinning competitor. Despite only clocking up a total of 60 miles (100 kms) in the unfamiliar Porsche 911 GT3 cup, the current World Rally Championship leader managed to qualify a commendable 18th on the grid. Richard Burns (WRC Subaru works driver): "My half a lap was short and sweet. It is a bit annoying when it's not your own fault.

Still I'd be keen to come back and try again."

Richard Dunwoody (18th place, multiple Grand National winner): "That was great fun, but it was lonely at the back. Still, I got the car back in one piece despite spinning before thousands of fans. I considered just staying there all day and entertaining the grand stands."

Patrick Huisman (NL, winner): "My start from second wasn't perfect, but it was better than Bernd's start. So I reached the first corner in front of the pack. Bernd kept me under constant pressure, especially in the fast corners, but luckily it's impossible to overtake there. Crongratulations to Jorg Bergmeister. He raced brillianltly."

Bernd Maylander (D, second place): "The main objective today was to keep my tyres intact over the race distance. Jorg was really attacking from behind. He was very fair, but I had to concentrate hard to keep him behind me. I'm looking forward to the next round in Barcelona."

Jorg Bergmeister (D, third place): "This is my first full Supercup season, and only my fourth race in this series. I could have possibly grabbed another place, but Bernd is an old fox. He knows how to keep rivals at bay."

Alessandro Zampedri (I, fourth place): "I grabbed two places at the start, pushed a little too hard in the early stages, but eventuelly settled into the race. In the final lap I cought Jorg Bergmeister (third) with one more lap I reckon I could have passed him. It's good to be in the points again."
