John Nemechek Benefit Tonight
There will be a benefit event tonight, March 18,1997, at the Checkered Flag Cafe from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to raise money for John Nemechek, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck driver who was critically injured Sunday at Homestead Motorsports Complex.
"John Nemechek remains in extremely critical condition end on life support following a minor procedure to relieve the swelling of his brain. His vital signs remain stable. If he survives the initial 48 to 72 hours, it will be weeks and months before the final outcome of his condition can be assessed."--Stephen Olvey M.D. Medical Director, Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit.
"He looks good. But we need a miracle."--Martha Nemechek, John's Mother.
Many of the drivers from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series--Ron Hornaday, Jr., Lance Norick, Rich Bickle, Tobey Butler, Mike Bliss and numerous others will be on hand, as well as drivers from NASCAR's other series including Randy Lajoie and Kenny Wallace.
The funds raise will be presented on John's behalf to the Brain Injury Association.
