Anthony Davidson Donington Park results

FORMULA FORD ZETEC CHAMPIONSHIP Round 2, Donington Park, Derby Sun/Mon 23/24th April

In a nail biting second round of the Formula Ford Zetec Championship at Donington Park, Anthony Davidson achieved the fastest lap time of 1:12.810 on the sixth lap. Superb and experienced driving was on display as Anthony's ability was described as 'mega' by race commentators.

From pole position, Anthony had a great start until an incident at the chicane forced Anthony back to 10th place. Anthony secured 6th place on lap 10 before the safety car was called out again. After the caution period, Anthony gained a further four positions within three laps to secure 2nd place. Anthony set in pursuit of the race leader and victory looked like an almost certainty. As the gap diminished, Davidson was forced off the track with a stuck throttle.

After the race, Davidson was disappointed; "The car ran well and I knew I was making continual progress all the time. I pushed forward for second place and knew first was in my grasp when the throttle stuck at the corner and I hit the gravel. I am pleased with the way I drove and am confident for my next race.''

Davidson and the Haywood Racing team will now turn their attention to Thruxton, Hampshire for the 3rd round of the Slick 50 Formula Ford Zetec Championship on 31st April / 1st May.
