Qualifying -- Australian Super Tourer Series Rd 2 -- Mallala Raceway -- April 19-21

Gurr too quick for Mondeos.

Driving the SAE College BMW 320i, Alan Gurr was too fast for his former Ford Mondeo team boss Peter Hills in qualifying for the second round of the Super Tourers series at Mallala Raceway. Gurr's 1 minute 13.6761 second lap was half a second faster than Hills and both set their best in session one.

Two tenths of a second slower than Hills was his team driver Grant Johnson from West Australia, who produced his best in the second session. Likewise Australia's youngest current full race licence Angre Morgan lapped at his best in the afternoon outing, securing a place on the second row of the grid.

On the third row are Paul Leabeater and Carlos Rolfo. New South Welshman Leabeater is at the wheel of the only racing Hyundai Lantra in the world while Rolfo heads his Queensland Toyota Carina owner and team boss Malcolm Rea.
