Cannonball Run Europe Announce Start Date and Venue for 2004

Start your engines and get ready for the countdown to Cannonball Run Europe 2004. Organisers of the legendary European road rally are pleased to announce that the third Cannonball Run Europe will kick off on September 12th 2004 from London's Docklands.

Bringing petrol heads together from across the UK and from all walks of life, the Cannonball Run Europe is described as the ultimate party on the move. The event inspired by the 1981 film of the same name, will see up to 100 cars travel over 3000 miles across seven countries in just six days. The final route will be kept a closely guarded secret and only at each checkpoint will the next destination be revealed to each unsuspecting Cannonballer.

But make no mistake, an unforgettable adventure is guaranteed to be had by all who rise to the challenge. An adventure that will include challenging roads, breath-taking scenery, luxury hotels, fine dining and fast and furious partying at some of Europe's most exclusive and prestigious nightclubs. Cannonball Run Europe 2004 will be without a shadow of a doubt the ride of a lifetime.

Cannonball Run Europe is a timed event and therefore classed as a rally not a race. The winner is the vehicle that completes the course closest to an average speed of 61 mph and not the first across the finishing line.

Tim Porter, event organiser explained: "It's not the vehicle but the navigational skill and spirit behind the wheel that counts. Cannonball Run Europe is anyone's game, whether you drive a Fiat, Ferrari or Ford, you stand an equal chance of winning. The victorious team will take the coveted Cannonball Run Europe 2004 title, trophy and get free entry for next year's event in order to defend the crown."

In-keeping with the Cannonball style, a fantastic launch party will take place on September 11th 2004 onboard the very glamorous Sunborn Yacht Hotel in London's Royal Docks. Set within a breathtaking waterfront environment on the River Thames, the Sunborn Yacht Hotel is the world's first customer built Yacht hotel.

The start of Cannonball Run Europe 2004 will take place mid-morning on September 12th, when that chequered flag is dropped 100 vehicles will leave the Docklands for Calais.

Just some of the vehicles to be joining the starting line include a Ferrari 360 Modena, Lamborghini, Mercedes SL350, Aston Martin DB7, numerous Porsche Turbos, a Caterham 7, Maserati Spyder, Dodge Viper, Nissan Skyline R34, BMW M3 CSL, Skoda Octavia and a Mini Cooper (with a Yamaha R1 engine).

The entry fee for Cannonball Run Europe 2004 is £2,995 for one car and two people and includes all sea crossings, hotel accommodation at each destination, breakfast and all evening meals, VIP entrance to party nights at some of Europe's coolest clubs and much much more.

Tim concluded: "Expect the unexpected and be prepared for an event that you will remember forever. This is Cannonball Run Europe.... it is "the time of your life" - you have been warned."

Don't worry if you can't wait until September to get a piece of the action, 'Chasing the Cannonball', a 50 minute DVD that draws on exclusive footage of the 2003 event is available to purchase now. 'Chasing the Cannonball' is priced at £15.99 and is available from all good retailers, on hotline number 01403 276191 or via www.cannonballruneurope.co.uk.
