FORD FOCUS SECURES THIRD CHINESE TOURING CAR TITLE IN FIVE YEARS

SHANGHAI, 28 October 2010 - Changan Ford Racing Team claimed its third Chinese Touring Car Championship crown in five years at Shanghai International Circuit last weekend. After two-litre Ford Focus cars claimed a 1-2-3 finish in the penultimate round of the series, the team holds an unassailable 33 point lead after six of the seven races.

Jiang Tengyi, who started from pole position, led for much of a wet weather race. However, going into the final lap he trailed Lu Jiajun, with Changan Ford team-mates Cao Hongwei and Zhen Zhuowei in third and fourth. However, all three powered past Lu Jiajun in a dramatic final lap, with Tengyi eventually taking the victory.

It was the first occasion in which Changan Ford has taken a clean sweep of the podium, to the delight of more than 1,000 Focus road owners who were invited to the race.

Changan Ford Racing Team was formed in 2006 and won the team titles in both 2007 and 2009. Its success on the track has boosted sales of the Focus road vehicle in China to almost 600,000 in just five years.

To celebrate the team's fifth anniversary, the Changan Ford Racing Manager online game was unveiled at the race meeting. Two finalists of the game will win a trip to watch the debut of the all-new Ford Fiesta RS World Rally Car at the opening round of the FIA World Rally Championship in Sweden next February.
