The 2001 DTC gets an earlier start to the season

The opening round at Jyllands-Ringen has been moved forward to April 29th Since its launch almost two years ago an important cornerstone in the Danish Touringcar Championship has been the mix between the international, professional drivers and the best domestic racers. Thus, it was very unconvenient for both race fans and DTC Organisation alike, when the French ACO club earlier this year announced that its traditional Le Mans qualification weekend had been moved to May 5th and 6th.

On this date Jyllands-Ringen had planned to stage its season-opener, and thus the opening round of the Danish Touringcar Championship looked set to take place without John Nielsen and Casper Elgaard, who are both Le Mans bound with Team Den Bl=E5 Avis.

The organizers of the Danish Touringcar Championship thus asked the country's national sporting authority, Dansk Automobil Sports Union, for permission to move the race to the weekend of April 28th and 29th - a date that was already occupied by another big motorsport event, the opening round of the 2001 Danish Rally Championship.

Today, a decision has now been made by Dansk Automobil Sports Union, which granted its permission to move the season-opener. Thus the 2001 calendar of the Danish Touringcar Championship looks as follows:

<pre> Round 1 April 29th 2001 Jyllands-Ringen (DK)

Round 2 May 20 th 2001 Ring Djursland (DK)

Round 3 June 10 th 2001 Jyllands-Ringen (DK)

Round 4 July 22nd 2001 Ring Knutstorp (S)

Round 5 August 12th 2001 Ring Djursland (DK)

Round 6 September 1st 2001 Jyllands-Ringen DK)

Round 7 September 2nd 2001 Jyllands-Ringen (DK)

Round 8 October 7th 2001 Jyllands-Ringen (DK)
