Tom Pedersen claimed race win for Hartmann Honda Racing at Padborg Park

On Sunday Hartmann Honda Racing claimed its second race win of the season when Tom Pedersen won the second of two races for the Danish Touringcar Championship at Padborg Park. Tom Pedersen was a last minute entry for Hartmann Honda Racing, but in the end the team ended up claiming its fifth race win at Padborg Park.

"I did not expect to win," Tom Pedersen said after the race which he virtually led from start to finish even though he got under severe pressure from Jan Magnussen for the latter part of the race. "I know that I am good at keeping the rivals behind me, but I did not expect that it would be that difficult, so I am glad that we won."

Tom Pedersen's comeback to Hartmann Honda Racing - his last race for the team was in 2006 - did not materialize until shortly before the race meeting.

"The deal was struck on Friday evening, so we had our share of troubles during practice and qualifying, but we managed to improve and get the car sorted," Tom Pedersen explains. "We had to change the car a bit, but I also had to change my driving style, but nevertheless we ended up winning."

"Tom helped us deliver the goods as we usually do at Padborg Park, so we are very happy in the team. It is a good result following our disappointing start to the Danish season at Jyllandsringen," team owner Hans Hartmann says.

Hans Hartmann did also make a comeback in the Danish Touringcar Championship race at Padborg Park, but unfortunately he did not make it to the start of the races, as he damaged his Honda Accord under the Super 8 Qualification one hour before the first race.

"When I got on the circuit, I suffered from severe over-steering, and just by moving the steering wheel an inch, I almost got half lock," Hans Hartamnn explains.

"The car was quite weird, but I chose to stay on the circuit as I needed to post a lap time. On the second lap through the chicane the rear-end started jumping. I tried to correct and then the car spun around and struck the guardrail. I have been driving 4.000 race kilometres in a Honda now, but I have never experienced a car that behaved that strange, as this one did. But I just went off the circuit and it said bang."
